Mobius
"Mobius" is the final assignment from my Level 1 Digital Graphic course. This design is very special to me—I invested a great deal of time and effort because it represents more than just an assignment. That's why I've chosen to showcase it on my portfolio website.
"Mobius" symbolizes an infinite loop, an endless cycle that's impossible to escape or break. This reflects one of my deepest fears: being trapped in an unchanging routine, living every day exactly like the last one. Several years ago, I experienced this feeling firsthand due to challenges like the pandemic, job loss, and personal heartbreak. During that difficult period, life felt directionless and confined—I imagined myself as an astronaut trapped in a spaceship, endlessly repeating the same day, similar to a cosmic version of "Groundhog Day."
Fortunately, I eventually found a path toward self-redemption. New opportunities allowed me to leave my previous life behind and come to Canada, searching for a fresh start.
In this poster, both astronauts are representations of myself—I placed my own face on them. One figure is entangled by numerous tentacles, being pulled into the abyss, symbolizing despair and hopelessness. The other astronaut reaches his hand through the infinity symbol (♾️), finding a way out of countless possibilities and try to save his past self from the loop.
All elements of this poster were generated using Midjourney and assembled in Photoshop across 27 layers. The visual style was inspired by vintage movie posters from the 1970s and 1980s, and the poses of the two figures reference Michelangelo's famous painting, "The Creation of Adam."
This design holds deep personal meaning to me, and I even printed a copy to hang proudly on my bedroom wall.
Sad Rock
"Sad Rock" is a cartoon character I created, inspired by the visual style of "The Simpsons" and illustrations by my favorite Chinese artist, Peng Lei. I drew the character using Adobe Illustrator, and parts of the background were generated using Midjourney and Illustrator's AI tools.
